<p><strong>TAKE NOTICE THAT</strong> on or before May 30, 2012 the Development Authority and the Municipal Planning Commission for the County of Newell No. 4 approved the following applications:</p>

<p><strong>AND FURTHER TAKE NOTICE THAT</strong> the <em><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Municipal Government Act</span></em>, Part 17, provides that anyone may appeal a decision of the Development Authority within 14 days of the date of this publication by paying the required fee and in writing expressing your interest relevant to the development and reasons for the appeal with the Subdivision and Development Appeal Board. For further information please contact the Development Officer at 362-3266. </p>
<p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">PLEASE NOTE:</span></strong>  Farm buildings, for agricultural purposes solely for the use of the farm operator, are deemed to be approved, subject to meeting set-back of 30 metres (100 feet) from the public roadway right of way or highway, access and construction standards of the respective land use district.  Any development occurring adjacent to all Highways may require the approval of Alberta Transportation and the issuance of a Roadside Development Permit. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The County of Newell has an immediate opening for a full-time Fleet and Inventory Assistant. Reporting to the Public Works Shop Foreman, the Fleet and Inventory Assistant is responsible for carrying out the day to day activities related to the management of the parts room and inventories, providing shop staff with required parts, scheduling units as per preventative maintenance practices, and generating work orders. Work expectations will include those needs of the Shop and its staff as well as the Public Works and Agricultural Services Department. Other duties may be assigned as the need arises.</p>
<p>Ideally, the candidate should possess strong interpersonal, public relations and verbal/written communication skills required to excel in a team oriented environment and maintain positive public relations with clients and the public. Possess strong organization skills with the ability and experience to work independently and efficiently in a computerized environment. Preferred qualifications include completion of Grade 12 supplemented by 2 to 4 years’ experience in a similar capacity and course(s) in supply chain or inventory management would be an asset.</p>

<p>This individual will be responsible for:</p>

<li>Assisting customers at the front counter &amp; responding to telephone inquiries in a polite, effective and efficient manner</li>
<li>Performing other duties as required</li>
</ul>
<p>Ideally, the candidate should possess strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced office environment. The ability to work efficiently with Microsoft Office applications is an asset.  Preferred qualifications include completion of Grade 12, with a certificate from an approved business school/college and two (2) years of administrative support experience.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Benchmark Assessment Consultants Inc. has been contracted to prepare fair and equitable assessment values of every property within the County of Newell.  The goal of an assessment system is the equitable distribution of taxation for the purpose of paying public services.  In order to accomplish this it is necessary to conduct site inspections annually.  Part of the site inspection process may involve taking pictures and measurements of the outside of structures and/or meeting with property owners.  The Assessor will have County of Newell identification.  If you have any questions regarding property assessment within the County you may contact the Assessor, Kevin Halsted, AMAA at the County of Newell Administration Office (403) 362-3266.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The County of Newell wishes to advise that the 2012 Property Assessment &amp; Tax Notices have been mailed.</p>
<p><strong>To avoid a 3% penalty, payment of your current property taxes must be made by June 15th, 2012. </strong></p>
<p>Payments can be made in person directly at the County Office (707 – 2nd Avenue, East, Brooks, Alberta) by cash, cheques (this includes post-dated), or INTERAC.  Mailed payments are also accepted (please ensure that the post-mark on the envelope is June 15th or before to avoid penalties).  Payments made by On-Line &amp; Telephone Banking and through participating Financial Institutions are also accepted.</p>
<p>Subsequent to the June 16th, 2012 3% penalty, a penalty of 8% on November 16, 2012 will be applied to any outstanding current taxes only.  However, should there be any property taxes that are still outstanding as of March 1, 2013; an additional 12% penalty will be applied to these balances.</p>

Due to the following conditions the Fire &amp; Emergency Services Co-ordinator for the County of Newell has <span style="color: #ff0000;">lifted</span> the previous issued “Fire Watch” for the entire County of Newell:</p>
<ul>
<li>Moisture conditions have improved over the last week</li>
<li>Grass lands are starting to green up</li>
<li>Some precipitation is expected over next while.</li>
</ul>
<p>Fire Guardians may still refuse to issue new Fire Permits and may cancel any existing permits at their discretion. Upon receiving notice of the suspension or cancellation of your existing Fire Permit all fires shall be extinguished immediately.</p>
<p>All County Residents are reminded that a signed Fire Permit is required prior to kindling fires on lands. All Permit holders are required to contact your local Fire Department and the Fire Permit Line prior to lighting the fire. Any burning shall be done in compliance with The Forest &amp; Prairie Protection Act and Regulations and Alberta Environment Rules and Regulations. All conditions stated on the Permit shall be followed without exception. Fines for failure to follow these regulations or rules can be issued.</p>
