We provide several options for you to pay your bill:
  1. Online banking or telephone banking at most registered banks or Credit Unions across Canada (see below for more instructions).
  2. Online via Interac e-Transfer (send to eft@newellmail.ca)
  3. Online with a credit card using OptionPay.
NOTE:  OptionPay collects a Load Fee for processing the credit card transactions.  The fee does not go to the County of Newell.
  4. Via mail by Cheque or Money Order (please don't send cash through the mail).  To ensure your payment is applied to the correct account, reference the permit number.
  5. In person with a cheque via the drop slot in our receiving entrance door (our offices are currently closed to the public for other forms of in-person payment).  Please write your invoice or permit number on your cheque.  If you would like a receipt, please include a note indicating whether you would like it e-mailed to you (include your e-mail address) or mailed.
DO NOT VISIT OUR OFFICE IF YOU ARE ILL, HAVE TRAVELLED OUTSIDE OF CANADA WITHIN THE LAST 14 DAYS, OR HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO SOMEONE WHO IS, OR MAY BE, INFECTED WITH THE COVID-19 VIRUS.

Paying for your Permit Through Your Financial Institution

  1. Look for us under the Bill Payment Section as "Newell, County of" or "Newell County".
  2. Select the Payee "Newell, County of - Receivables" or "Newell County - Receivables".
  3. Create the account using your Permit Number as your account number (this number will be provided to you by the Development Clerk):

Your Permit Number (account number) will be exactly 7 characters in length – all numeric and will begin with the year the permit was issued and will be followed by 3 numbers

Note - If you currently remit payments to the County of Newell for your Receivables Account and the account number you are using does not match the format indicated – you must create a new bill payment account to submit payment for your permit. Failure to do so may result in your payment being incorrectly processed.

As financial institutions vary, please contact the County of Newell Finance Department (Phone: 403-794-2329 or finance@newellmail.ca) if you encounter difficulties setting up your account or if you have any other questions or concerns.
