The Regional Water Program is a new initiative aimed at extension of piped water provision. The Province of Alberta, the County of Newell, the City of Brooks and Member Communities saw the potential for mutual benefits under increasingly stringent guidelines and expectations for water control and quality. Water has been piped successfully from the City of Brooks to the Village of Tilley. Tenders for improvements to the Brooks Water Treatment Plant, and pipeline construction from Lake Newell Resort to the Rolling Hills Reservoir are in process. Pipelines continue to be built to other communities within the County of Newell.
County of Newell Water Project
In addition to the Newell regional Water Program, the County of Newell has initiated a $57 million dollar potable water service to all rural residents within the County. The first phase of this project began in the spring of 2012 with additional pipelines being added over the course of a five year period.
