Bridges in the County of Newell are classified as any pre-cast or treated timber structure as well as any culvert greater than 1500mm in diameter. All bridges which lie on a County road allowance are owned by Alberta Transportation, however the County is responsible for the maintenance and replacement of such.

In 2016 the Government of Alberta release new funding under the Strategic Transportation Infrastructure Program (STIP) to help municipalities with costs associated with bridge file replacement.  The County has made application for two bridges for 2017-2018 and are waiting for a response to the application.
